Summer in Zweisimmen
Enjoy Zweisimmen in the summer with mountain hikes, mountain bike tours, day trips by train or just take in the sun on the balcony of our apartment. The quaint village in the Berner Oberland forms the gateway to the world-famous Gstaad-Saanen region. In addition, Zweisimmen is also the starting point of the Montreux-Berner Oberland Bahn (train) which runs through a beautiful and diverse landscape all the way to Montreux at the Lake of Geneva.
Zweisimmen is situated in a wide, sunny valley and is one of the ten villages to make up the Gstaad-Saanenland region. The cable car from the Rinderberg goes directly from the village centre up to 2000 meters altitude. From the top station it is possible to walk in the mountains to Saanenmöser, Schönried, St. Stephan, Lenk and Gstaad. The world-famous Gstaad provides a glimpse into the luxurious world of the (film) stars and starlets who love to spend their holidays there.
The hiking paradise around Zweisimmen offers several themed walking trails, such as the Obersimmentaler Hausweg that invites you to admire the magnificent Simmental farmhouses. Among the classics is also a hike or mountain bike excursion to the idyllic Seebergsee and/or in the further direction of Stierenberg. There awaits a warm bath in a wooden tub for visitors at the mountain restaurant. Four altitude hikes with fantastic views, numerous hiking trails, as well as a walking path into the end of the Simmental to the mountain village Lenk provide the broad range of walking trails in Zweisimmen.
As an alternative, visitors can opt for scooter-based fun: on two different routes you can roll down the slope on a scooter, with specially-equipped brakes step, into the valley. In addition, Mountain boarding is also possible. Several bicycle and mountain bike routes, including the downhill route on the Rinderberg, round off the summer opportunities.
